More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Many families in Darfur have lost regular access to their farmland and businesses due to ongoing conflict. The Small Enterprise for Hope Project is helping to keep the entrepreneurial spirit thriving—even in the face of conflict—because enterprise is a tool for self-sufficiency and decreasing poverty. The program gives training and loans to individuals and groups, with a particular focus on women.

Activities

RI provides business courses and microcredit loans to entrepreneurs. Success stories include blacksmiths, tanneries, market farms, brick makers, bicycle repair shops, handicrafts and cafes. Loans have been repaid at a rate of 100 percent.
