Thanks to the donations, GVI, in collaboration with Amigos de Sian Ka'an and the University of Quintana Roo, has managed to transform the devastated Estacion Costa Maya Research Station into a basic, but functional research station once again, where extremely important biological data is being gathered. This data will help understand the effects of hurricanes on reefs, and wether anthropogenic coastal developments affect the recovering capacity of Coral Reefs and related coastal ecosystems.
