More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Many of the families we serve are now facing the coming year with the potential for disease, hunger, and lost income. From the field: 1. Basic food crops in villages have been partially or completely destroyed. 2. Families suffer from respiratory disease and need attention -- local clinics are over capacity w/out enough medicine or human resources. 3. The latrines have entirely collapsed in the village of San Jose, which could lead to a health epidemic if not repaired. 4. Road Repair

Activities

The plan includes: 1. Hire a doctor to provide medical services in San Jose, buy medication as needed. 2. Build community latrines in San Jose. 3. Buy bean seeds to replace lost crops. 4. Buy sorghum seeds for Norwich. 5.Buy corn as food security.

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

For most families, damaged crops mean the loss of an entire year's worth of work, income, and food supplies for the coming year.

Project Message

In addition to coordinating repairs, medical assistance, and the replanting of crops, Mario Gaitan (Agros Nicaragua Exec Director) estimates that it is also necessary to provide emergency food rations
