Innovations for Poverty Action

Mission

IPA is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating, evaluating, and replicating innovative solutions to poverty and policy problems worldwide. Combining technical rigor and creative thinking, IPA partners with frontline organizations to create and evaluate context-specific solutions to poverty problems. IPA is driven by the belief that concrete evidence on what works, what does not work, and why, will accelerate the eradication of global poverty.

Programs

IPA works to create, evaluate and replicate innovative programs that address the issues central to enhancing quality of life and promoting economic development, including education, health, gender equity and empowerment, microcredit, microsavings, microinsurance, agriculture, and clean water. We work in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Each project focuses on different populations, such as women, children, micro-entrepreneurs, small-medium enterprises, subsistence farmers,and rural populations.

Tomoko Harigaya - Country Director
Tomoko grew up in Tokyo, Japan. She currently lives in the Philippines, working on evaluations of development initiatives.

Lucas Crowley - Project Coordinator
Luke grew up outside of Boston and first became interested in development when he started watching the Discovery Channel his senior year of college. In the Philippines, Luke coordinated a handful of field studies ranging from micro-finance to agriculture. Within hours of arriving in Manila, Luke's enthusiasm for the "carabao" mango was established!
