Scholarships for Disadvantaged Girls in Zimbabwe
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesPolitical and economic chaos, as well as a severe drought, has impoverished the majority of Zimbabweans. Due to failing crops, a great number of peasant farmers are no longer able to afford to send their girl children to school. School fees and uniforms cost $48 per child annually in Zimbabwe and for many this sum is impossible to pay. Sadly, girls are being forced to drop out of school. It is most likely that the majority of the girls will never return. ActivitiesGirl Child Network (GCN) will use the funds to pay for one year's school fees and a uniform, including a new pair of shoes, for 150 of the most disadvantaged girls from Chihota, Hwange, and Rusape.
