More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

The poverty of older men and women in three townships of Kwazulu Natal is exacerbated by the lack of information and abuse that they suffer. Older people are cheated out of their pensions, are made to sign wills and funeral insurance they have not fully understood, and are denied their right to participate in the governance of their country. Kwazulu Natal province is one of the hardest hit by the HIV/AIDS pandemic and older people are among the main carers of the sick and the orphaned.

Activities

Our project will provide literacy for older people to increase their skills, build their confidence & access their rights. Lessons will be prepared & facilitated on themes chosen by older learners themselves that will help them in their daily lives.
