More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Mozambique is one of the world's poorest countries. No clean water facilities exist in the project area which relies on agriculture for sustenance. Matola Gare is 15 long km from the nearest town with the nearest water source (well) 10km away. For older people particularly this seriously challenges their access to water given difficulties of mobility and strength. AMAI's work will directly benefit 300 people in a wider community of 3000.

Activities

Our project will build 1 new well while repairing 3 others providing access to water while offering training in water purification systems and maintenance. Provision of farming tools and seeds means more nutritious food for families.

Resources

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

AMAI works towards healthier older women and men in the community through the provision of clean water and improving food production. Older women's access to land will be improved through advocacy work and training.

Project Message

Older women travel 10 km to fetch water. Easier access to drinking water is crucial for better health. Older women are not given legal rights to their land. We work to change this.
