Mission

SYNAPSIS Foundation was established in 1989 by psychologists, psychotherapists, and doctors. SYNAPSIS therapists are helping autistic youth and their families (diagnosis, therapy, education for children, trainings for teachers, therapists and parents). We advocate the needs of persons with autism and promote the problem in society. In 1999 we opened the Center for Children with Autism in Warsaw (now there are 280 children in our programs).

Programs

1) The Direct Aid to Autistic Children, Youth and Their Families Program (therapeutic & individual learning for 280 children per year); 2) Building-up an Assistance to Autistic Children and Adults National System, Promotion of the Issues, Lobbying, Child Rights Advocacy; 3) Academy of Therapy and Psychological Education with a private training center for teachers registered in the Ministry of Education; 4) Promotional campaigns; 5) Charity Events: Auctions of art work and raffles, charity balls

Personnel Overview

Michal Wroniszewski - psychiatrist, psychotherapist
Since 1989 he has been involved in the diagnosis and treatment of children with autism in the SYNAPSIS. He has initiated and developed the interdisciplinary care system for autistic children and educational courses on autism for professionals in Poland. He collaborates with many Polish and international institutions and organizations. He is an ASHOKA Fellow.
