Uruguay: Mini Bus Needed for Transport

Summary

Mini bus to daily transport homeless families from night shelters to our day care center (CEPRODIH)

More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Approximately 20 mothers and 50 children who spend the nights in various shelters have to be taken daily, rain or shine, to our day center where their basic needs are covered and are in care of a specialized team till they can get jobs and housing. CEPRODIH doesn't own any means of transport and has to pay for very expensive and ramshackle hired car services, inadequate because of the cost & their low reliability & safety.

Activities

Specifically we need to own a vehicle that enables us to fetch the families every morning and take them back in the evening

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

Our goal is to be able to safely transport homeless mothers and children to our day care center. The bus would also help to further development of the children through educational and recreational activities at schools, cultural events or parks.

Project Message

I thought I knew what poverty meant ‘til I discovered the world of the homeless. Since then my effort to revert this situation hasn't ceased. CEPRODIH is instrumental in dignifying hundreds of lives.
