Chichoy Potato-Producing Project in Guatemala
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesDue to inadequate access to education, health care and economic resources, indigenous women suffer from high levels of poverty, illiteracy, and malnourishment. On top of these endemic problems, the army destroyed scores of villages and murdered thousands of indigenous men during the brutal 36 year civil war which ended in 1996, leaving an entire generation of widows with young children. This project will benefit 20 impoverished women, and their families, in the small community of Chichoy. ActivitiesConvene small business training and provide start-up seed capital to help poor women start their own businesses.
