Safe Water & Latrines for Honduran Village
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesIn this rural mountain community, each day is a struggle for water needs. The 179 residents must gather water from small springs and waterholes that form close to their houses during the rainy season. During the dry season, these water sources dry up and families must walk long distances to obtain water from larger streams. With no latrines, open defecation is routinely practiced. Children and adults often have diarrhea. ActivitiesThe project includes construction of a gravity-flow system with water faucets, wash basins, and latrines at each household.
