More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Problem: Potential displacement of these 80,000 indigenous people; risk to their culture, land, ecosystem, livelihoods, water access & quality, and public health. Solution: Enable them to legally secure their land rights by helping them to survey and register 100 tracts of communal land (3-4000 acres/tract) and five unprotected UNESCO World Heritage Sites, before unregistered lands must be forfeited to the government in 2010. Tools and training will be provided to locals for further surveying.

Activities

When we survey the communal and sacred lands for registration, arrange for registration advice, provide tools and hands-on training to locals for further surveying, this will prevent displacement of up to 60,000 people.
