More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
This program will address problems in the Waterloo Refugee Camp located in the western rural part of Freetown, Sierra Leone. The lack of sufficient latrines leads to poor public hygiene and the majority of illnesses within the camp. Additionally, the students in the camps seven schools are in need of chairs and desks in order to learn in a comfortable environment. This program will incorporate ideas about basic hygiene and peace and conflict resolution into the curriculum.
Activities
The project will involve the construction of 5 additional latrines, which will drastically reduce the amount of illnesses in the camp. In addition to providing 3,000 desks and chairs, a 3-day training workshop for teachers will be conducted.
