Mission
Youth Action International (YAI) is a growing network of young people using grassroots techniques to develop and implement programs that help alleviate the suffering of children affected by war or living in difficult circumstances and to empower them to reach their full potential. YAI programs are strategically designed to break the cycles of violence and poverty and promote the ideals of peace and sustainable development. YAI has offices in Liberia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Rwanda etc

Personnel Overview
Alhaji Jalloh - Student
Alhaji worked with mentally and intellectuallydisabled children in Singapore. He worked on a youth empowerment project last summer in Sierra Leone. As a member of Initiative for Peace (IFP), he acted as a facilitator in conferences that were related to peace and conflict resolution. He recently worked on a self sustainable organic farming that seeks to empower women in Guadalaraja, Mexico.
Awa Sanou - Student
Awa had a one year community service experience in a rural area of India through one of the United World College gap year programs. There, she helped housemothers in a center for mentally challenged adults as well as helped conduct recreational activities.
Carson Cornbrooks - Student
Carson worked the past two summers to build and refurbish houses in Vermont. He traveled to Costa Rica with a school group to construct sidewalks and paint buildings for a primary school in an impoverished section of the country. He participated in the big brother program in his town, and worked with projects to confront poverty in Vermont.
