More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

The Young Peasants from Belfonten (AJPB) depend on vegetable production for their livelihood. Farmers have had to buy seeds at triple the cost of the crops they sold. This is a problem for farmers who pay more for the seeds than they earn from harvested crops. The 500 members of AJPB want to improve the crops with a seed bank to give them access to inexpensive, quality seeds. AJPB will sell affordable seeds to Belfonten’s farmers and enable them to feed their families and sell crops at a profit.

Activities

With your help, Lambi Fund will buy the members seeds and tools, help build the seed bank, and provide sustainable agriculture training. Haitians will have access to reasonably priced food that they grow themselves.

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

With the extra income provided by the sale of vegetables at market, an entire community organization will be self-sufficient. The food will feed families and the profits from the sales will improve their livelihood for years to come.

Project Message

A seed bank will help us make a sustainable living growing food but we need some reasonably priced quality seeds to get started.
- Emmanuel, member of AJPB
