More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

A farmers group in Taivant (ROJETAT) has not had the tools to cultivate the land and grow more food. Ox plows are the appropriate technology in this hilly area for plowing fields. An ox plowing service will enable them to cultivate more land for crops, feed their families and provide an opportunity for ROJETAT to make an income by renting the ox plow to non-members. It removes the dependency on food imports and puts control of food production in the hands of the local communities.

Activities

With your help, Lambi Fund will buy the 36 members 3 plows, 6 oxen, tools, veterinary care, and training. ROJETAT members will provide the land to for the oxen to graze. Haitians will have food that they grow themselves.

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

With the extra income provided by the sale of vegetables at market, an entire community organization will be self-sufficient. The food will feed families and the profits from the sales will improve their livelihood for years to come.

Project Message

With the ox plows, we will be able to cultivate more land and grow more food to feed our families. We need plows and oxen to do this.
- Ronald, member of ROJETAT
