Mission

I. To promote justice and equality through the reform of laws and practices that discriminate against women and girls II. To work for the end of sex and labor trafficking in women and girls and all other forms of commercial sexual exploitation III. To help to eradicate the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM) IV. To promote the equal partnership of women in decision-making and conflict resolution

Programs

Justice & Equality: reforming discriminatory laws and practices and promoting reproductive rights; Female Genital Mutilation (FGM): working with local grassroots organizations and activists to end FGM; Trafficking: educating the public, targeting sex tourism operators and influencing policy makers to pass strong, effective anti-trafficking legislation; International Peace & Security: promoting the equal partnership of women in conflict resolution and sustainable peace.

Antonia Kirkland - Program Officer
Antonia Kirkland has been a program officer in the New York office of Equality Now since 2002 and began her work with Equality Now as an intern in 1996. She holds a Juris Doctor from Rutgers University Law School - Newark, a Master of Science in Gender Studies from the London School of Economics, and Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Brown University.

Faiza Jama Mohamed - Nairobi Office Director
Faiza Jama Mohamed holds a Masters in Business Administration from California State University (Fresno) and a Bachelor’s Degree from Ahfad University-College for Women in The Sudan in organizational management. She has twenty years of experience working for international organizations, in particular for African women’s rights, and has been an active member of the women’s movement in Somalia
