Save Szadvar Castle (Szadvaert Barati Kor)

Mission

Preserve, conserve and promote medieval Szadvar castle in Szogliget. Provide educational opportunities for students in historic monument preservation.

Programs

Since the fall of 2006 our volunteers have participated in the Save Szadvar Castle Days event. Each time the event focuses on a different section of the castle. The work is supervised by professionals from the Aggtelek National Park. The Association also participates in the annual Gomor-Torna regional festival, promoting the village and the castle. Each September we offer free guided tours in the framework of National Historic Monument Days

Tamas Karpati - volunteer
Tamas is a member of eBay's charity program eBay Giving Works that raised more than 150 million dollars for noble causes globally. In 2006, he toured Northern Hungary and saw some great examples of how historic preservation can lift a village out of poverty. His call to action was answered by 60 volunteers who ascended to the ruins of Szadvar and began their work.
