Share & SaveMore Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesAlong the Kenya coast, fishermen and aquarium collectors have cleaned out most of the reef fish in almost every location. The only locations left with small populations of reef fish are the marine parks, but they are very small in area, poached regulary, as they are under extreme threat. ActivitiesWe train fishermen how to conserve the marine environment and teach new fishing methods. By providing an artificial reef we will increase the fish population and provide new income generating opportunities. Overfishing has become a worldwide phenomenon, especially in Africa. The coastline of Kenya is literally becoming a desert. The El Nino of 1988 infliced considerable damage to the reefs, resulting in the bleaching of the coral.
