More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesCerro Verde is located on the southern part of Cochabamba. Its population is up to 65,000 people whose life is of extreme poverty. Most of them are immigrants from the most depressed areas of the country. Approximately 80% of them have to work in informal commerce; more than 50% are single mothers or abandoned women and the majority of them live in a single room. This place is characterized by insecurity and violence. The project will benefit 700 people. ActivitiesThe Cerro Verde Project targets the community's poorest and most vulnerable groups through integrated health care activities: Training indigenous leaders as health promoters; increasing individual counseling and education for prenatal patients to improve the rate of hospital deliveries; initiating adolescent outreach through school-training.
