More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesOperating since 1987, this project serves nearly 22,600 beneficiaries. The communities are mostly the descendents of indigenous people who possess virgin lands and produce for subsistence. This population is facing the exhaustion of its natural resources due to overfishing by commercial fishermen, deforestation due to wood extraction and forest burning. The social picture is extremely critical and the communities are submitted to a process of growing impoverishment due to a lack of alternatives.
