Increasing Income for Landless Farmers in India Photo Gallery

Anita

Anita, a World Neighbors program participant in India, has improved her life through our child and maternal health programs. At 19 years old and six months pregnant, Anita had no readily accessible healthcare. After her village partnered with nineteen others in the area and rallied for government support and with the help of World Neighbors, a hospital was built in the region. Anita delivered her child safely and in a clean environment in March of 2006

Simple Tools

With the help of World Neighbors staff, these farmers in India have devised very simple tools to reduce the amount of time and manual labor when plowing their fields. Instead of plowing by hand, wooden poles are tied between two bullocks that produce evenly plowed lines. This simple tool has changed the farming techniques in the region and has raised crop production.

Livestock Vaccinations

Through their newly devised vaccination program, these rural farmers in India have increased the life expectancy of their livestock, thus increasing their income and improving their lives. Because of the training these men have recieved from World Neighbors, these animals now receive regular vaccinations against common diseases. After the animal is immunized, their coat is marked with a color coded stripe to help the farmers track the vaccinations each receives.
