Ghana: Storage for women's surplus palm oil
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesIn western Ghana where palm fruit is abundant, the business of processing palm oil is passed down from family to family. For the women of these villages, many of whom are illiterate single mothers, inheriting this business provides them with their sole source of income. Over 40 women have combined equipment and labor to form the Dzinpa Adom palm oil processing group. While the group is profitable, the income generated is minimal as the oil goes rancid due to the lack of a storage space ActivitiesWomen will become competitive in the market and will earn a sufficient living.
