Mission

Our mission is to work with the poor and marginalized people facilitating processes that empower them so that they are capable of gaining control over their own health and development concerns.

Programs

SAHAS has four key programs: The sexual health program targeted at changing the high-risk behavior of male migrant workers supports safe sexual behavior. The women’s empowerment program includes sexual and reproductive health education and services income generation and legal awareness activities. The youth program focuses on sexuality education and life skills for working youth and students in schools. A community based care and support program has also been initiated.

Personnel Overview

Dr Vibha Marfatia - Director
Founder trustee and director of SAHAS and was awarded the “Ashoka fellowship” in 2002 and is a recipient of “Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship” for community work. She is an active member on Child Welfare Committee under the Ministry of Social Justice and empowerment. She has participated in International HIV/AIDS conferences as part of the UNAIDS/National AIDS Control Organization sponsorship.

Ms Amudha Ranganathan - Senior Counselor
The senior counselor has 7 years of experience in HIV/AIDS counseling and care and engages in training and supervision of counsellors. She leads a team of counsellors and provides the necessary support to them.

Dr. Shukla - Clinician
He is widely respected by the target community and undertakes the clinical management of patients with HIV since the last three years.
