Providing Access to Credit in Southern Nepal Photo Gallery

Mountain Terracing

The rocky, mountainous terrain of Nepal is not condusive to farming. With the training of World Neighbors and their partner organizations, these mountain sides have been turned into productive farming areas by using the terracing method. The terraces help prevent water run-off and soil erosion.

Income Generating Activities

These Nepalese women have created a savings and credit group in order to generate income for their families. They pool their very minimal resources and provide loans to the members of their group. These women have chosen to purchase goats. They will generate income by selling offspring, milk and meat. The income is often used to pay for their children's education and school materials.

Clean, Accessible Water

Clean, sanitary water is needed by almost all World Neighbors program areas. Women often spend 6-12 hours a day fetching and carrying water for cleaning, cooking and livestock and crop needs. This water point was built and is managed by the Nepalese community. World Neighbors educates its participants in water sanitation practices and its relationship to nutrition and health.

Health Clinic

With the help of World Neighbors, many health clinics have been built in Nepal. Community members that had no access to health care now have trained specialists to assist them and access to a pharmacy.
