Mission

To enhance capacity building of Private Voluntary Development Organizations (PVDOs) and community people, both urban and rural, to effect positive change in society by providing need-based support, technical assistance and oversight.

Programs

Works for the human and socio-economic development of the urban and rural underpriviledged people of Bangladesh and for their basic rights in the society. CDS effects such development by: 1. Directing projects that benefit underpriviledged people giving priority to women/adolescent girls and children; 2. Providing support and networking services to local partner organizations; 3. Offering volunteer and leadership development.

Personnel Overview

Balu Iyer - IDEX Asia Program Director
Balu moved to the Bay Area from India in 1998, and completed a Masters in Public Policy at UC Berkeley. Prior to coming to the U.S., Balu worked for 6 years on poverty eradication programs with ActionAid India. Before that, he worked as a Program Organizer with the Aga Khan Rural Support Program. Balu also has a Masters in Rural Management from the Institute of Rural Management in Anand, India.

Dr.Emdadul Haque - Executive Director
Dr.Emdadul Haque is the executive director of CDS. A doctor by profession, Dr.Haque has over 26 years experience working with international organizations. His areas of expertise are in program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and institution and organization development. Dr. Haque’s personal interest is in raising awareness on HIV-AIDS and in preventing its spread.
