Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

Ten million eBooks into the hands of people who can in turn give away free copies of the DVD or individual eBooks. Once Project Gutenberg creates a new eBook, we catalogue it, place it on several servers, and announce it to the world.

Project Message

The role of Project Gutenberg is to break down the bars of ignorance and illiteracy.
- Michael S. Hart, Inventor, eBook/Founder, Project Gutenberg
