Mission
Engaging communities worldwide to chart a sustainable future – for all of us!
We empower a diverse perspective-changing movement mapping local natural, social and cultural resources in cities, villages and neighborhoods in over 50 countries. Developing local sustainability networks since 1995, Green Map System expands the demand for healthy, green choices with our adaptable mapmaking resources and universal icons, multilingual websites, workshops and regional hubs.
Programs
GreenMap.org has added a 'web 2.0' system with Chinese, Spanish, Japanese and Indonesian interfaces to expand our movement. It showcases our local partners, their Green Maps, motivations, methodologies and outcomes. All our adaptable mapmaking tools (see Resources) and globally designed iconography (see GreenMap.org/icons) have been updated, and in 2009, an interactive Open Map making tool will debut. To pilot new concepts and benefit our home community, we also create local NYC Green Maps.
