Mission

The League of Women Voters is a non-profit, nonpartisan, grassroots organization that encourages the active and informed participation of citizens in government. The League neither supports nor opposes candidates or political parties. The League is committed to reversing the decline in voter turnout. For 83 years the League has been the trusted resource for providing citizens with information and skills they need to cast an informed vote and to participate in the civic life of their communities.

Programs

SmartVoter.org provides comprehensive unbiased election information on federal, state and local candidates and ballot issues. EasyVoter.org gives nonpartisan information about the why, how and what of voting and other forms of civic involvement. GuidetoGovernment.org provides names and contact information for elected officials.

Personnel Overview

Trudell Een - Project Director
Trudell Een, Smart Voter Project Director, has served on local and state boards of the League of Women Voters and has been a project manager for multimillion-dollar construction projects. She increased participation in Smart Voter from two to 23 counties, developed a volunteer base, participated in successful fundraising, developed and distributed public relations releases and marketing materials.

Carl Hage - Programmer
Hage owns a consulting firm involved with Internet technology, electronic commerce and electronic design automation. He has been active in promoting electronic democracy and government use of the Internet through collaborative civic projects including: govguide.org (Silicon Valley guide to government), greatschools.net (school information), and ceres.ca.gov/flood (flood disaster information)

Carol Watts - Webmaster
Watts has IBM database experience, serves as the Webmaster for the League of Women Voters of California and is the manager of League Easy Web (LEW)
