Project Needs and Beneficiaries

PROJECT NEED: Construction of fire-lines for forest fire management; Hiring of 10 ‘watchers’ – one for every 800 acres of land; Hiring of 1 Organizer (over-all in-charge); Soil and water conservation works; Training and meetings of CBOs (for fire-fighting, planting and re-seeding, protecting, management); Tamarind groves’ ‘watchers’; BENEFICIARIES: 1500 marginalized farming families in 8 villages of the second most drought-prone district in India.

Activities

Creation of Community based organizations (CBOs) in all eight villages (Vana Samrakshana Committees i.e. Forest Protection Committees and Dalit Yuvajana Samithis i.e. Dalit Youth Associations).; ·Protection and Management of Natural resources.
