Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Twenty-five years of war and civil strife have devastated Afghanistan. Roads, buildings, homes, farms, and other infrastructure are destroyed. Education and health services are spotty and insufficient to meet the overwhelming needs. In the midst of this ruin, the fall of the Taliban has brought a renewed sense of hope for peace and a better future. Many local Afghans have recognized these needs and started small schools or learning centers to contribute to the reconstruction of the homeland.

Activities

Project partner AIL will provide partial funding to an Afghan education NGO with about 300 students. AIL will also train their managers and teachers to strengthen and sustain their work despite ongoing instability and poor funding.

This project is now in implementation and no longer available for funding. Received funds will be used to accomplish concrete objectives as indicated in the project's "Activities" section. Updates will be posted under the "Progress Report" tab as they become available.

Donors' contributions and pledges to this project totaled $5,400.  The original project funding goal was $5,400.
