Educational Video Library in Sign Language
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesIn Argentina, teachers of the deaf do not use sign language. Thus, deaf students have no access to a complete school curriculum. The deficient education places the deaf community in a critical situation. Deaf students abandon school or finish their schooling at a very low academic level. Their simplified curricular program makes integration into high school very hard, especially in the fields of language and social sciences. Beneficiaries: deaf students, deaf adults and teachers. ActivitiesDesigning of videos, translation into sign language, training of interpreters, video recording and editing, copying and distribution. Funding InformationTotal Funding Received to Date: $498 Funding InformationThis project is now in implementation and no longer available for funding. Donors' contributions and pledges to this project totaled $498. The original project funding goal was $8,500. Additional DocumentationThis project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc). ResourcesWhy this Project is ImportantPotential Long Term ImpactDeaf students will raise their academic level, which will enable them to continue their superior education. These videos will show that deaf people are perfectly able to learn, and that the difficulties they face are related to lack of access. Project Message
"I strongly believe that access to information makes people free. Information in sign language is part of recognizing deaf people's linguistic rights and their active participation in society." Who is Running This ProjectContact
