Ukraine: Restorative Justice for Juveniles
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesDuring the last 10 years the number of convicted juveniles in Ukraine almost doubled: from 11629 in 1992 up to 21108 in 2003! Practicing judges still prefer punitive approach, in spite of the Supreme Court recommendations to provide Restorative Justice Programs. Apparently, Restorative Justice approach needs wide popularization and understanding of Victim-Offender Mediation (VOM) and other reconciliation processes by Ukrainian judges and court officials. Activities1.Produce 30 minutes video “Restoring Justice”. 2.Present it to Justice System authorities and judges. 3.Distribute the video through Academy of Judges and Professional Judges Associations.
