Give Rural Women the Skills for Livelihood
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesLand in the Bokaro district (the project area) is infertile because the area suffers from droughts and lacks irrigation. The region has been deforested for the coal and steel industries. The villages have benefited little from industrial development and most still lack electricity. Few villagers are able to secure permanent jobs, and are mostly marginal farmers and landless who seek out work in nearby towns for subsistence. Women from lower castes and tribes in Bokaro are the main focus. ActivitiesTrain 50 women in vermiculture (compost using worms) and vegetable cultivation.
