More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Indigenous children in Panabaj often leave primary school as functional illiterates, with poor academic skills and low self-esteem. Their school is crowded, has few resources, and offers little space for reading and writing activities. With no lending libraries in their village, children have little chance of growing into literate adults. A lending library at the school will provide a place for children to build their literacy skills and borrow books to read and share with family members

Activities

Community volunteers will use local materials to convert a school room into a library that will support literacy activities and give elementary school children the opportunity to bring home books, creating a culture of learning in their families.
