More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
Although the government mandates the inclusive concept, it is not happening. In low-income areas where children have access to free schools run by the Delhi Government, disabled children are admitted but have no access to therapeutic resources they need nor quality academics, since teachers are not trained to deal with them. Most private schools refuse them admission. Beneficiaries will be the primary school population in about 2,000 government schools.
Activities
We offer our own facilities and share our resources for in-service training for government-run school staff so they can implement disability-friendly, inclusive curriculum and practices.

Why this Project is Important
Potential Long Term Impact
To see that all school age children with a physical or mental disability living in poor communities have access to appropriate education designed to meet their specific needs so that every child has a RIGHT to education.
Project Message
In areas of poverty, mainstream schooling is not a RIGHT, but an option. Girls denied education and boys required to earn rather than study is accepted by the poor, and education is the answer.
