Mission

The Kenya AIDS Vaccine Initiative is a collaboration between the Nairobi University, the Medical Research Council in Oxford, and the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI). KAVI's mission is to contribute to a world without AIDS by developing a safe, effective, and affordable preventive HIV vaccine in collaboration with its partners.

Programs

KAVI's programs include conducting HIV vaccine trials & community AIDS outreach and education.

Personnel Overview

Professor Jeck Ndinya-Achola - Co-Principal Investigator
Dr. Ndinya-Achola is a member of the WHO Collaborative Centre for STD/HIV Research and Training. He has served as the Director of the Centre, as Chairman of the Kenya National AIDS Control Committee, the fore-runner of the National AIDS/STD Control Programme and as Dean, Faculty of Medicine, University of Nairobi. At KAVI, he is chair of the Advocacy Committee and Co-Principal Investigator.
