More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
Presently, there are no devices to assist victims of internal bleeding from ruptured ectopic pregnancies and road traffic accidents in developing countries, particularly in Africa. Many victims die from severe shock from excessive bleeding. The EATSET project will provide an affordable, simple device to enable doctors to intervene quickly in salvaging blood loss in body cavities.
Activities
EATSET will utilize the polymer granule by-products of Nigeria's petrochemical industry, create jobs, and lead the way to local manufacturing of medical disposables. Almost 100% of medical disposables are imported into Africa.
Funding Information
This project has been retired and is no longer accepting donations.
Additional Documentation
This project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc).

Why this Project is Important
Potential Long Term Impact
The goal of the EATSET project is to manufacture an appropriate medical device locally at affordable costs, by setting up a medium-scale industry using local resources. The project is seeking international donors and government support.
Project Message
A people's health cannot depend on the technologies of others. People should be assisted to identify their own level of technology that can provide solutions to their problems.
