Mission

The mission of Asociacion Civil Labor (ACL) is to promote environmental health through public participation and community decision making. The organization works to improve public policy for environmental protection, health, and sustainable development. ACL provides conflict resolution related to mining activities and urban environmental management, builds capacities of local leaders, generates policy proposals regarding these topics and conducts and disseminates related research.

Programs

ACL provides assessment services and consultation in urban environmental management and environment impact; information and agro-ecological technical assistance; and training in capacity building, leadership and conflict resolution. ACL also supports and represents the community when in dispute with mining companies. ACL is conducting activities to improve the national legislation on air quality standards and to establish a national policy on environmental health.

Ms. Diaz is a lawyer with Master studies in Environmental Management. Her professional experience is focused in policy, management and environmental law. Ms. Diaz is President of the National Environmental Society. since 1993 she has been a consultant and liaison officer of several NGO’s, municipalities and development agencies in planning procedures and evaluation.
