Mission

TSS is a grassroots organization whose mission is "to enable deprived people and their civic organizations to achieve equitable development". TSS helps communities assess needs, set priorities, plan and implement activities, mobilize local resources, and assess progress together. In Ramechhap, TSS reaches 125 marginalized communities. Each has representation on the TSS Board.

Programs

TSS has helped 150 communities with over 27,000 people construct 130 gravity flow drinking water systems and 20 small irrigation systems, which has major benefits for women. More recently, TSS has started to provide reproductive health clinical services including family planning, as well as health education. Finally, TSS also supports primary education and literacy.

Personnel Overview

Govinda Prasad Ghimire - Field Coordinator
Govinda Prasad Ghimire joined TSS as assistant accountant in 1987 at age 16. Since then, he served TSS in planning, financial management, adult education, and savings and credit. Today, Mr. Ghimire coordinates all field programs. He says "What I am today is because what I learned at TSS. TSS is one of the best development agencies. I am lucky for the opportunity to work with TSS."

Guatam Kumar - Water Supply Coordinator
Married with 2 children, Guatam Kumar Srestha has worked with TSS for 12 years. He mobilizes communities and helps them design, construct and maintain gravity flow drinking water and irrigation schemes. "I feel lucky to have been associated with TSS which has build abut 170 systems and served about 17% of the district population, providing them with many benefits".
