Mission
Credit Against Poverty (CAP) works to raise the income levels among the poor, particularly women, in Zimbabwe through the strengthening of entrepreneurship by providing micro-credit and support services.
Programs
Since its inception in 1996, CAP has been providing micro-credit (or small business loans) and basic business training in leadership, budgeting, marketing, buying and pricing to Zimbabwe’s rural poor. In addition, CAP provides training and educational materials in HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, as well as counseling for its clients living with the disease.

Personnel Overview
Kisha Montgomery - IDEX Program Director
In 2002, Kisha returned from a 6-month solo and self-funded tour of NGOs in Southern Africa. Before that, Kisha worked for 2.5 years as a coordinator of a welfare to work program that empowered women to self-sufficiency through employment at law firms. She also worked as an advocate for survivors of domestic violence for a year after graduating from Syracuse University Law School in 1996.
George Gonani - Executive Director
Raised in a poor single parent family, George beat the odds and graduated with honors from a university in Zimbabwe with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Administrative Studies. After college, he worked as a high school teacher for four years. He left the teaching field to join the NGO sector. He has been with CAP for 7 years. George is married with two children.
