Mission
Coaching for College provides academic tutoring, mentoring and career exploration opportunities to disadvantaged students in the District of Columbia public school system. Founded in 1999, Coaching for College is committed to the belief that all students, regardless of their circumstances, can succeed in school, pursue higher education and chart fulfilling careers. Coaching for College is seeking funding support for our career exploration work, called Summer Opportunities Initiative (SOI).
Programs
Coaching for College also operates weekly Saturday tutoring and mentoring sessions during the academic school year in which 2 adult “coaches” work with their student. Also, we offer monthly fun activities outside the academic environment, including museum trips and sporting events. Additionally, Coaching for College has partnered with Accenture to run monthly career building workshops to provide our students with guidance on topics including resume writing and interviewing skills.
