More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
The August 15, 2007 8.0-magnitude earthquake in Peru killed over 540 and injured 1,500. Centered near the cities of Ica and Pisco, the quake left homes, hospitals and roads in ruins, making the distribution of supplies and medical services both vital and difficult. VIDA is collecting vast amounts of donated medical supplies in response to the disaster and utilizing our network of Peruvian affiliates to distribute the goods efficiently and effectively - but funding is needed for the shipping.
Activities
VIDA is collecting and sending vital medical supplies to Peruvian health institutions serving victims of the quake, where the destruction left already-impoverished clinics and hospitals ill-equipped to save and treat the injured.

Latest Update from the Field
Update to Earthquake releif
By Haydee Rodriguez=Pastor - President, December 28, 2007 05:48 PM
In response to the catastrophic 8.0-magnitude earthquake that rocked Pisco, Peru on August 15, VIDA delivered substantial emergency relief efficiently and effectively. Our sister organization VIDA-Peru responded immediately, rushing previously-sent medical supplies to the region. Our first airlift carrier then distributed $2.8 million in medical aid to the most devastated settlements and villages of the region. VIDA also developed a new partnership with Operation USA to cooperatively send further relief to victims of the quake.
