More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
Mineworkers live in very difficult and poor conditions. Some mines are in remote areas, in communities that lack many basic facilities, such as access to education. GRAVIS would like to build schools in remote areas to give more children access to education and also to continue existing centers. Children of mineworkers, who are often forced in to early labor and denied benefits of education, will be given priority admission to the schools.
Activities
The schools will benefit 500 children (including 200 girls) by giving them access to education suited to their needs, as well as extracurricular activities. There is great enthusiasm among parents to send children regularly to schools.

Why this Project is Important
Potential Long Term Impact
Fewer children will need to work as laborers, while more will learn basic language and arithmetic skills. Children will discover feelings of self-worth and may be inspired to continue beyond primary education.
Project Message
Children have simple desires--go to school, learn to read, sing songs, and play games. Not impossible dreams to fulfill. We need to give back to these children their childhood.
