More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

With a 25-year history in emergency response, our teams are cross-trained in mental health & post-war recovery settings. We found that many people in Gaza – particularly women and children – reported traumatic events, while young people felt anxiety or hopelessness and depression. This is not uncommon, as the WHO reports the number of people suffering severe mental disorders increases by 1-4% following conflict and war, while the number suffering from moderate disorders increases by 5-10%.

Activities

International Medical Corps is training health care workers to identify both common and severe mental disorders, while also creating a case management system so that the needs are not only identified, but handled swiftly and quickly.
