Helping One Child at a Time

By Jon Lascher - Every Dollar Counts, August 11, 2009 01:10 PM

Bienvenu was hospitalized in 2005. His future was not guaranteed. This uncertainty quieted a once vibrant young boy. He looked years younger than most boys his age andwas much smaller. Bienvenu's mother had passed away when he was very young and his father was not present in his life. From the early age of 12 years old, Bienvenu began taking care of himself. Hope Through Health found Bienvenu in the hospital and immediately provided him the support he needed with no strings attached.

Bienvenu used to walk for hours to reach medical care. Now when Bienvenu arrives his transport is covered by Hope Through Health. When he arrives he is provided medicine, nutritional supplements, medical and psychosocial consultations, a monthly support group, and childrens club all free of charge thanks to donors like you.

Bienvenu is now healthy and strong. This would not have been possible without Hope Through Health's model of comprehensive health care. His story signals hope in a country where hope is reserved for those with money. Unfortunately our work is far from finished. Every day more children test positive with HIV/AIDS. Bienvenu serves as an example of what is possible wihen a small amount of money is spent in on effective programs in an effective way.

Thank you for your continued support for Hope Through Health's Orphan and Vulnerable Children Program.
