More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
Lead poisoning is epidemic throughout India and the developing world. Lead battery production, is now becoming the most significant source of lead exposures throughout the world. An estimated 120 million children and adults who are over exposed to lead will benefit from emission reductions. This project will pilot test an environmental audit program in India in order to certify companies operating within acceptable performance parameters.
Activities
An Advisory Board will approve the initial audit parameters and provide oversight. To gain recognition for the audit program and participating companies, we will publicize their efforts.
Funding Information
This project has been retired and is no longer accepting donations.
Additional Documentation
This project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc).

Why this Project is Important
Potential Long Term Impact
We are pilot testing the audit protocol to finalize certification standards. Companies that meet these standards will be eligible to place a eco-label on their products.
Project Message
I dreamed of providing a solution for the lead poisoning problem and I am confident that through this project I will realize my dream of establishing systems for eliminating the problem.
