AYUDA runs a US-based Volunteer Training Program to prepare youth with the appropriate skills and training to be effective leaders in AYUDA's programs and beyond. AYUDA has programs in Ecuador, Belize, Bermuda, Croatia and is in the process of launching

Personnel Overview

Merith Basey - Global Program Director
Merith previously served as AYUDA’s first Country Officer in Ecuador where she was able to establish a strong working relationship with the local diabetes community. Prior to living in Quito, she spent six months in Ambato where she programmed and implemented AYUDA’s first Diabetes Public Awareness conference. Her presence in Ambato tripled the number of children who attended camp that year.

Kendra Hennig - Director of Volunteer Development
For the past two years, Kendra joined forces with Teach for America as a third grade bilingual teacher in Washington Heights, an under-resourced community above Harlem, New York City, while at the same time pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education. She extends this experience in education, compassion, and development to her responsibilities as Director of Volunteer Development with AYUDA.
