More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

The World Heritage Listed Daintree rainforest in Australia contains the highest numbers of plant and animal species that are rare, or threatened with extinction anywhere in the world. The cassowary plays a major role in this biodiversity hotspot. The Australian Rainforest Foundation is working with conservationists, ecologists, biologists, zoologists and university researchers to conduct vital research and studies. The cassowary, rainforest and career-minded students will all benefit.

Activities

Conduct behavioral & ecological studies on the cassowary in the wild, semi-wild and captive and on its bio-diverse habitat. Create a universal management tool for environmental impact assessments and population estimation for endangered species.
