Mission

Political and cultural understanding for the ransom of the ethnic identity and self-esteem of the black people, making possible actions that contribute with the promotion of the local organization in search of citizenship. Combat all forms of intolerance caused by racism and promote the rights of the black population in Maranhão.

Programs

Seminars, debates, meetings, workshops and courses; educational campaigns to combat discrimination; training project for the citizenship and professional qualification for adolescents and teenagers; training project in humans right for leaderships, adolescents and women of the quilombolas comunities; juridical advice for the identification and ownership of the quilombolas lands; health and religiosity project in the African Cult Houses – combat sexually transmissions diseases.

Maria Do Socorro Guterres, pedagogic coordinator. Teacher with superior qualification in pedagogy and qualified for educational orientation. She was the pedagogic coordinator in institutions of basic and medium level and coordinated the municipal program to eradicate infant work. Now she is the pedagogic coordinator of the “Griot” and Black Resistance educational projects.
